Closer-to-Reality Conference 2008
attempt to connect real life experiences
with Buddhist scriptural understanding
Death & Beyond
27 December – Monday, 29
Thean Hou Temple, Kuala Lumpur,
Organised by Sāsanārakkha
Concept: Our beliefs on what
happens after death will condition how we respond to our own death,
shape the form and spirit of our funeral rites, and counsel the dying.
The closer our beliefs are to reality, the better we are able to handle
death. So instead of limiting our understanding to a certain set of
dogmatic views, it would be more advantageous to us to investigate the
phenomenon objectively by comparing real-life experiences with those
described or implied in religious doctrines.
conference will initiate such investigations and hopefully bring
us closer to a more accurate understanding of death and beyond—an
inevitable reality that awaits all of us and our loved ones at the end
of our human lives.
Spirituality is a matter of connecting not just with another divine power but with your own inner self. Religions like Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism all speak about karma and how it can affect your life and afterlife.
To learn more about Buddhism and the wisdom it imparts, you can visit http://www.pemakhandro.org/ to understand all about the righteous teachings, ancient medicine and healings and Tantric Buddhism from Pema Khandro, a Buddhist Yogini from Tibet.
Who should attend:

- Buddhists involved in Dhamma propagation
- Open-minded people with a spirit of enquiry
